Most budgerigar fanciers in Pakistan were not convinced that the current procedures were adequate for this fancy and wanted to improve them. Therefore, a group of fanciers decided to form the “Budgerigar Society of Pakistan (BSP)” in January 2006 for organizing shows that operated on International Standards. BSP is the only Society in Pakistan which is promoting the fancy of Exhibition Budgerigars & Cockatiels with focus on "owner bred" policy. BSP is working with NOC (Regd. No. RP/2616/L/S/05/966) from concerned government departments.

BSP has reasonable number of members based in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot & Hyderabad and is honored to have few members from India as well.

This society is Affiliated with World Budgerigar Organization (WBO) and it is following its Standard of Perfection .Shows will be organized and winners will be awarded according to its Scale of Points . The winner details of the national show will be sent to WBO for worldwide recognition

Our first National Bird Show 2006 was organized on September 24, 2006 at Avari Hotel, Lahore. Large number of families and fanciers attended this show from different parts of the country like Sialkot, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur etc. BSP made arrangements to have the General Secretary of the WBO Mr. Ghalib Al-Nasser (UK) come here for judging this show. After a long competition the Best in the Show was announced. Media gave good response to our event. BSP management believes that organizing these shows as per international standards & rules will ultimately help in improving the image of Pakistan abroad.
